AFFIRMATIVE ACTION = RACIAL DISCRIMINATION

Herewith a contribution under the Chapter of DEMOCRACY.

The biggest change in the "new South Africa,' is the move towards a true democracy and the abolishment of legal discrimination based on race, sex, creed or color.

A new term, emanating from the USA: AFFIRMATIVE ACTION has entered our society.

With AFFIRMATIVE ACTION, some intend to change a wrong from the past into a right. Unfortunately 2 "wrongs" do not make one "right".

AFFIRMATIVE ACTION intends to give benefits to some part of our society in order to compensate for "injustice" done to them in the past.

If any aspect of AFFIRMATIVE ACTION would be embedded in the constitution, South African law would be back before the 1994 elections. it would indeed legally endorse the treatment of certain population groups more favorably than others, solely based on color.

My request must hence be that no relation to AFFIRMATIVE ACTION will be made in the new constitution.
