Citizen Constitution: Dawn Noland [1995] ZAConAsmRes 455 (30 January 1995)

30 January 1995

Dear Sir / Madam,

As a Christian in the New South Africa I would like it known that whilst I support freedom of speech - I am not able to accept the total abandonment of censorship and the restrictions of importing pornographic materials.

Whilst travelling overseas I have observed that values are far lower and our children in South Africa need to be protected, to some extent, until they are old enough to know and judge for themselves. Let us continue to have children to be proud of and not drag them down to standards where porn is available on every movie screen and seen in every advertisment and magazine available.

In the same vein let me state that we are opposed to homosexual marriages. How can ANYONE accept a marriage between two people of the same sex as being correct? Marriage is a sacrament from God, between a man and a woman so that they can enjoy one another and create life.
It is not possible for two people of the same sex to create life.
It is also not a normal relationship and should not be treated as such.

I am also totally opposed to the legalisation of abortion on demand - it is the unborn child who has a right to choose ... not the woman who was selfish enough to put herself in that predicament.
Life begins at conception and abortion is no different from murder.

Please, please do not allow our New South Africa to lower her standards to join the rest of the world.

Let Lis be proud and hold our heads up which as we strive for unity and equality and a good life for our children who are the backbone of the future.

Yours sincerely,

Dawn Noland
