With regard to the underlined topic I
would like to ask the Assembly to change the words which presently appear in the
introduction
to the Constitution, namely our responsibility before the
Almighty God. I am convinced and I reckon that most citizens
(Black, Brown and White) are going to support this change in the introduction
of
our Constitution. Even though there are political differences between Black,
Brown and White there is one matter on which most
citizens agree namely our
godly convictions and this is a binding factor which has united all of us over
the years. We would like
to see that when the Constitution has been completed,
it also reflects the religious convictions of the people of the country. I
would go as far as to say that this statement could be subjected to an opinion
poll. We would like to have these words included
in the Constitution, namely:
Our responsibility before the Almighty Triune God. South Africa
has always stood for Christian values and norms.
I trust that
these inputs will lead to the will of the Christians of the whole
country.
