AN OPINION AND SUGGESTIONS FOR THE PRESENT NATIONAL ANTHEMS
I've just
heard different politicians debating and raising their views in as far as Die
Stem and Nkosi Sikelela are concerned. I
so think the two anthems must be
cancelled and a new anthem which will include the sentiment of every individual
in the Rainbow Nation
be formed. I've got reason from my point of
view.
Nkosi Sikekela its a song which was against those who dominated
Africa, specifically whites. We sang the song as Blacks with a hope
getting
freedom out of it and it raised the black people's sentiment and it served as
white people's moral killer. So due to status
quo and I so think it must be
abolished because it hurted most of the whites, although some are responding
very well to it but there
are still those who get hurt when it is
sang.
Die Stem it's a song which Afrikaners sang when they were going to
opress Blacks. The adults or elders, are getting hurt when it
is sang because
they know very well how they were oppressed and beaten and killed. After that
the whiles will sing the very same
song during their happiness that they have
killed Blacks. So again think that this song can be enjoyed by its
victims.
What only we have to do it's just to join hands together black
and white and form a song which would be enjoyed by everyone as subjects
of the
Rainbow Nation. I just hope that my point of view will be successful and the
song we created as AFRICAN CONCERNED YOUTH ORGANISATION
(ACYO) will regarded as
National Anthem..
