THE PUBLIC’S RIGHT TO CARRY A
FIREARM
I hereby wish to respond to your advertisement in Die Burger
in connection with the above.
The average law-abiding Tom, Dick and
Harry, including myself, have the right to protect ourselves, our families and
our possessions.
Should I be a legal firearm owner it means that I obtained the
licence in a legal manner and that I am a responsible person with
the government
having all my required details.
It is also a fact that 99 per cent of all
armed burglaries/crimes are committed by people who did not obtain their
firearms in a legal
manner and of whom the government have no
records!
Should I wish to be able to protect my family/possessions and
myself against such elements of the community I should obviously have
the right
to carry a firearm.
The saying quoted below is as far as I am concerned
what the government will have to cope with if we, law-abiding citizens of South
Africa, are deprived of the right to carry our legal firearms:
"If guns
are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns".
