Dear Sir



in response to the invitation through the Sunday Times advertisement by the Chairperson of the Constitutional Assembly Mr m C Ramaphosa, I wish to advise that I am willing to serve on the committee which will be dealing with "structure of government preferably.

The writer has been participating in various levels and forms of deliberation pertaining to constitution making for governmental structures in the following forums

(a) KwaZulu Natal Indaba which was charged with the responsibility of formulating a regional constitution for the Province of Natal incorporating the Kw&Zulu portion in 11986. I am a signatory to the final document.

(b) Participant at CODESA Plenary as chief negotiator for NPP in Working Group 2 dealing with Constitutional Principles.

Participated in a symposium convened by the American university and the . Eleanor Roosevelt institute in Washington DC. Theme: Federalism - An American Experience.

(d) Was a member of the Joint Committee of Parliament on Constitutional Affairs under the chairmanship of Minister Roelf Meyer, MP.

(e) Currently involved in the Greater Durban Metropolitan Negotiating Forum, as a Forum representative as well as a member of the Boundaries Sub-Comm:Lttee which :La charged with the responsibility of determining the Metro and Sub‑Structure boundaries.

In addition to the direct involvement in the abovementioned'(jitfbd role functions the writer has been an elected public representative in all 3 Tiers of Government viz Parliamentarian,' Ministerial Representative and Councillor for varying periods since 1973, including a period in the South A-@rican Indian council.

in conclusion the writer would appreciate an opportunity to serve I . -n order r-c try and make a contribution to the great constitutional debate.
