Abortion on Demand [1994] ZAConAsmRes 20 (1 February 1994)

1 February 1995

ABORTION ON DEMAND

We are concerned that, while the constitution grants rights to every individual, the rights of the unborn are being ignored.

The viewpoint that we hold (we believe this to be the Biblical Viewpoint) is that life begins at conception & that this life is given by God. It is within this framework that we strongly oppose legislation granting abortion on demand. The law already makes provision for abortion in certain situations. The impact of allowing abortion on demand would be far-reaching, causing a nation to bear the guilt of innocent blood being shed. It would also have the effect of diminishing the value placed on human life at a time when we as a nation are finally realising that all people have equal value before God.

We trust that this concern will receive your close attention.
Yours sincerely
