Dear Sir
As a concerned South African citizen, I would like to make a contribution
towards the formulation of cur new
Constitution. According to Constitutional talk of January
15, any submissions that I make, will be taken into account when the
Constitution is being threshed out.
Regarding the various Themes, I would like to suggest the following:
Committee 1 1. Democracy
- The
viewpoints of minority parties should be heard and noted in a democratic
society.
- Socialistic
ideas of State control cannot function in a democratic society. If the
Constitution is to represent a democratic society,
no Socialistic ideas are
allowed to be written into the Constitution.
2.Character of the State:
- The
State should uphold law and order and punish guilty offenders. The death
sentence should be imposed, to allow law-enforcement
agencies the means of being
able to punish serious offenders with the highest penalty possible, namely,
death.
- The
State should ensure a healthy political and economic environment, to allow
socioeconomic development to hair.
- The
leaders of tie State should serve in the beat interests of the people, in order
to develop and build-up the nation.
Committee 11
Separation of Powers
- The
Church and the State should be granted separate powers.
An entrenched bill of rights
- People
of the State should have the right to freedom of religion.
- All
people should have the right to the private ownership of property and
possessions.
- Rights
to hcusingy education, motorvehicles etc. should be worked for and paid by the
individual. This will ensure the responsible
and effective utilization of theme
and other resources.
- Every
person should have the right to holding a jobs based
an
suitable qualifications and not based an racial or
gender
discriminations, or 'affirmative action.'
- A
citizen of the State should enjoy the protection of the State, by means of a
well-trained and effective police force.
Theme Committee
V1-Sub-Themes Sub-Theme an Public Administration l.Public
Service
- The
Public Service should be defined as a SERVICE and all who enter this sector
should be made aware of their obligations towards
the public.
- Striking
should not be allowed in the public service, as the lack of services and the
consequences thereof affect everybody. A Board
or Forum could be established,
that would handle the complaints of employers or employees
directly.
I hope that my suggestions will prove useful in the
compiling of the new Constitution that I am to live under.
Yours
Sincerely,
MR P A BRUSSOW
