Transvaal Women's Agricultural Union [1995] ZAConAsmRes 830 (15 February 1995)

TRANSVAAL WOMEN'S AGRICULTURAL UNION

15 February 1995

  1. AFRIKAANS should not be scaled down, because it is the language that is understood by most of the people in the country.

  1. THE DEATH PENALTY should be retained. Murder and violence are increasing and the murderer must not receive more protection than the victim.

  1. DISTRIBUTION OF LAND - Landowners’ rights of ownership of their land should be protected. State land can be distributed, but it also belongs to all of the people of the country. It should not be given away free.

  1. EDUCATION - Cultural and religious differences exist, and children have the right to be educated in their own language and according to their religious preferences. Model C school should remain.

  1. ABORTION - We are opposed to abortion on request, and ask that the present legislation regarding abortion continue to apply.

  1. EQUALITY FOR WOMEN - We ask for equal remuneration for equal qualifications, as well as for equal competition for positions where qualifications are the same.

  1. AFFIRMATIVE ACTION - People without the necessary qualifications for a position should not be appointed. People should also not lose their jobs because they are white. That is racist and undemocratic. No-one can be proud of his work if he is appointed to a position simply because of the colour of his skin.
