Enclosed a Few Ideas on the New Constitution [1995] ZAConAsmRes 803 (14 February 1995)

14 February 1995

Enclosed a few ideas on the new constitution.

(1) Illegal immigrants - They are flooding our cities and taking work opportunities away from our people. More in E.L. all of a sudden there are foreign hawkers from all over the world ; especially from the rest of Africa. If they are going to trade here let them PAY TAX.

(2) Bring back and keep the death penalty. We women are sick and tired of being raped and murdered and constantly living in fear in our country.

(3) Why does birth control not play a major role in this over populated country ‑TAX couples with more children like in eastern countries. Even if it is the culture of people to have many children think of 1 0 years ahead there will be more children’s shelters than homes. Where is our youth going to find work?

(4) Littering - Teach our people to lead a cleaner litter free life, from school days on.

(5) Reduce personal Tax and increase V.A.T. so we all pay for the goods we use and services.

(6) Why do we not build more dams with all the money from the outside world. We seem to think the water that comes out of the tap is free from heaven. The rains have dried up our country is drought stricken and the people still waste water, maybe if we all pay for our water we will regard it as very precious.

Thank you.

Best wishes with your very difficult task of satisfying the population in this our country. S.A.

Mrs. I. Thompson.
