Every Day We are Implored to Send in Our Ideas to the Above Body - So Here Goes. [1995] ZAConAsmRes 770 (13 February 1995)

Every day we are implored to send in our ideas to the above body - so here goes.

What is abundantly clear is that this country cannot afford the top heavy government structure that we have. The Government is supposed to be the employers of the people of the country who pay the taxes. This is the only instance that I know of where the employers decide on the monstrous salaries and pensions that they should receive. Slashing all salaries and pensions - (previous and future) from from the President down by 50% will save the taxpayer millions and they should pay tax on every cent earned just like the ordinary citizens do.

Get rid of the general assembly and senate the majority of them are there just for the ride on the gravy train and they represent nobody.

Take ten experts in the various fields of government from each province and let them run the country this will save many millions.

What the ministers know about the departments they head is what they learn from the department heads.

Written directives from the government should go to departmental heads regarding what government policy to impliment. Instead of ministers being the messages. The department heads can make the announcements to the public instead of ministers regarding government policies.

More millions can be saved. Stop all the first class flittings of politicians overseas. In this modern age of communication their jaunts on taxpayers money are unecessary. Overseas goodwill visits should only be made by the President. I hope you can use some of these ideas. I am Dr J J MALAN.
