I have read numerous articles/literature in newspapers that have racial undertones against Indians. Furthermore, political party leaders also tend to stir up trouble against Indians e.g. Mr Butheiezi accused Indians of mostly voting for the ANC and Mr Mandela accused Indians of mostly supporting the National Party. Taking all this into consideration, all it will take is something very trivial to start up a campaign of death and destruction against Indians. Believe me, Indians are being scapegoats for a number of issues.

I would like to have in the Constitution a guarantee of protection of life and property should there be a riot against Indians. If South African protection mechanisms fail to safeguard Indians, then the Government must allow for any other strong country that is "pro-Indian" to step in. I feel strongly that in such a situation, South African forces will turn a blind eye and allow atrocities to be carried out under their noses.

Thank you
