Dear Sir, Pallo Jordan
I am of the
belief that pornography be banned in South Africa due to the following
reasons.
In South Africa you hear of murders, people being raped and then
ask yourself why? Then pornography comes to mind. The reason shy
I think it
should be banned is because it seems to be corrupting the imaginations of young
children. This influence of reading bad
magazines destroys a childs childhood
including his adulthood. By wanting to read more of these magazines it urges a
child to want
to watch these women in the magazines, on television. In this way
the women are exploited and a child learns to lack respect for
their parents and
other adults around them.
Children should be brought up in healthy
environments, and certainly should not be exposed to bad surroundings like
pornography.
Parents today, live in fear, by wondering what does their child
read and what do they view on television. Pornography might never
be taken off
the streets but at least if there were some way in which pornographic
magazines could be sold in adult shops and not in our regular supermarket, it
would at least keep children away from
buying these magazines.
Publishers
of pornographic magazines should realize that they might have children of
their own and in the same way, they would not have any such magazines
in their homes. By them not making these magazines it would decrease
the exploitation of woman and also it would decrease the amount of people
being raped and those that are murdered.
I do believe, it is the
opinion of every citizen as to whether he/she wishes to react a pornographic
magazine, and I respect this
choice. But I do not believe that it is morally or
religiously correct.
Yours sincerely
A. Docrat (Miss) Std
