FRANK PORRILL.
January 31 1995
I respect you have an
awesome task in your drafting of the new constitution as your decisions will
have an immense effect on the quality
of life for millions of present and future
South Africans. May God guide you to do what is best for our land.
As
the first and foremost guideline the constitution MUST be based on the Word of
God and all His guidelines must be complied with.
We will have problems until
we acknowledge his supreme reign and power. South Africa is a 70% Christian
country which in any democratic
society is a majority and the new constitution
should therefore be in line with the majority. I therefore -respectfully guide
you
to a phrase which could be most useful when considering any clause or phrase
in the new constitution.
WHAT WOULD JESUS DO]? DO IT.
If
every clause complies with this then I will be happy to, stay and obey the laws
of my government. Having set the goal posts let
me record views on many points
which should be covered in the new constitution.
1. THE BIBLE IS
AGAINST KILLING PEOPLE. "You shall not murder." A simple unconditional
rule from God - the ONLY Good, the creator of the universe, this nation and
all the peoples of this nation. There is not even an escape clause for
conditional discussion or sometimes justification. Murder is premeditated
termination
of life.
1.1 I am against the application of the death
penalty for criminals. In the section dealing with criminal law, there will
be no death penalty. I believe the nation could benefit by modifying
the laws
of internment to incorporate forced active participation in creative activities
to the benefit of the nation. To have criminals
lounging in comfort eating food
provided out of my taxes appalls me.
1.2 1 am against the application of
the death penalty for innocent babies. Life starts at the moment of
conception and not even the mother has the right to terminate or even ask others
to
terminate this life. The new constitution must be strictly against abortion
under any circumstances. No decent (God-fearing mind
asks for an abortion so
are you listening to Satan if you permit it to. be written into the new
constitution?
2 BLASPHEMY. The Bible says "you shall not take the name
of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who
takes
His name in vain."
2.1 I am strictly against all forms of blasphemy and
most strongly against the leader who publicly, when announcing the new name for
the province of Gauteng, has to blaspheme to, emphasize his point. Is the new
constitution going to position itself where it condones
such conflict against
the word of God or will it have the guts to, be supportive of God? The choice
is yours whether you support
God or the devil for there is nothing in
between.
3. SOCIAL MISCONDUCT. There are many sections and not one of
them is edifying to. God and all are associated with a lowering of moral
standards and this
is directly related to poverty and increase in crime and
violence. Let me try and isolate some points.
3.1 Rape/sexual
misconduct/social misconduct. Where do you draw the line? Far too often
the male rapist is viewed as the only guilty party while the rest of society
happily nourishes sexual imbalances. I abhor rape and I hate the injustice
to the factors which cause such occurrences. The new constitution should
not
condone factors or standards which will bring it down.
I believe all of
these parties are just as guilty as the one who actually weakens and commits the
defined act of rape.
3.1.1 The woman who dresses in a lewd, sexually
provocative manner or acts in a similar manner; the person who speaks or
broadcasts
or allows to be broadcast sexually provocative or erotic talk; the
persons who are involved in pornography (a subject we will deal
with
separately.) Any conduct which causes sexual arousal in the male, outside of
marriage, is a problem.
The woman, the sex kitten of society or other
purveyor of erotica arouses the male. Depending on circumstances he may make
direct
approaches to the stimulating partner there and then which may lead to
sexual conduct at variance with the will of God. If he remains
unsatisfied for
too long he is likely to snap and grab a victim where he is less likely to be
caught and seek, sexual release. Knowing he has done wrong he frequently
tries to wipe out the evidence and spontaneously kills his victim. For the
rest of society who is stimulated to a slightly less or more disciplined
standard he simply scans a few columns in the Star and selects a phone number in
a convenient area and for a couple of hundred Rand
vents his feelings on some
female desperate for
2
money and who is prepared to take his
animal behaviour. If he wanted a cheaper dose of sexual infection he would take
a stroll along
any of the regular routes of our major cities and be invited to
have sex with an assortment of prostitutes who roam our streets.
Only one in 10
000 who, cannot afford these alternatives is defined as the rapist. Very few of
the women who sell their bodies-.
would choose to, if there was not a financial
lack or need in their lives. They are simply compromising with the potential
rapist
who has a few rand. While I therefore acknowledge that sex for sale and
prostitution are de factc, alternatives and hence potential
diminishing factors
in the rape scenario, I am still against this type of moral conduct. While
trade unions and affirmative action
force whites out of jobs and force
higher salaries to be paid they are forcing more women into free enterprise
business for themselves. Their earnings
are no longer taxable and as more of
them flood the market the prices for their services come Down as they compete
against each other
for business. As they become more affordable immorality or
social misconduct is encouraged and society falls more into satan's grip
and our
economy will flounder.
I believe the new constitution should be very
strong against moral misconduct at any level.
3.2 Pornography. This is
one of the most powerful tools of the "New Age-" version of satanism. I demand
this be banned in its entirety
and all those directly and indirectly associated
with it. Let us take a sexually provocative photograph of a model associated
with
a small amount of equally provocative caption or comment on the physical or
sexual attributes either an display or provocatively
hidden. I believe all of
the following parties are to blame and should be punished and banned from our
society.‑The model
and make-Ltp artist where applicable; The
photographer and his lighting and or other assistants who have knowledge of what
is going on; The firm and the individuals in the studio who develop the
negatives; The reporter who wrote the accompanying commentary; The
shareholders, editor and all editorial staff who authorized the inclusion
of the
material in their publication., The printer/publisher and all staff in his
business who, may have seen or been party to the
work in progress; Those who
distribute such material knowing what they are handling is pornographic; The
owner, manager and staff who display the material in their shops and those who
take the money for the material when sold; The
exporter/importer who either
distributes such filth to other countries or brings it in to our country; And
there may well be others who know they are involved in something which is
pornographic and morally harmful and who do not report
the matter or try and
stop the flow. These are the ones who could probably be classified as
"accessories" in a legal context. Finally there are the end users who are in
possession of the material who, may or may not even share it with friends or
family.
We all [,now how decadent this market it and we have Our fabulous
T.V. which supports it by promoting it on programmes called Top Level. Sorry
it does not "support" it simply "gives-s a very balanced view of society" as
to the feelings on both sides of the fence. It is either too weak to, take a
stand against pornography but it feeds a sex-hungry audience so it promotes
such filth, or it is blatantly supportive. YES! Even our T.V. should
fall
victim of the laws against pornography. There is enough international evidence
associating it with violent crimes and especially
those of a sexual
nature.
Every form of pornography be it graphic, textural, physical
auditory or visual should be banned totally. There is no room for any
sort of
compromise. Someone was recently saying it was a few old "tannies" who decided
on what was acceptable or not. I respect
them for having more guts and better
moral standards than many of our national so called "leaders" who are too
uncertain of their
positions to be totally outspoken against this filth.
They may lose more votes than they may gain. What a Sick
Society.
3.2.1 1 believe the new constitution should come out very
strongly against this evil in society.
3.3 Drugs. From time to time we
have good publicity about a major break in another syndicate being broken. I
believe this market is no less harmful than pornography. Existing laws at least
cover anyone who grows the dagga (as one example') or dries, packs, transports,
controls, sells or uses it. All are guilty.
3.3.1 The new constitution
should be very strong against any form of drug abuse and the dealing in
illegal drugs.
4. PURITY OF LANGUAGE.
Like it or not we are going
to become an international player and the one language of international
business communication is English. I believe there should be a strong move to
have this language
taught in its most pure and accurate and internationally
acceptable form. I was horrified to, see even in the Sunday Times of January
29, a centre spread about acceptance of lower standards and what one was calling
Sowetan English which is akin to American Jive. As an international trader I
never even bother to read, let alone waste a stamp on
acknowledging, communications from overseas which are written in American
Jive. I will go to great expense with translations into Spanish or other
languages where they are unable to communicate clearly in good
English but deal
with slummy slime--ball English - never. I am influenced to perceive that
the new educational system is moving the accent from accepted purity to social
usage standards. Please
stop the slide into international disrespect.
I
do not [,,know just how and where this comes into. the constitution but I feel
strongly that every language is entitled to be properly
and accurately spoken.
None should be bastardized, raped or abused or full of socially and
internationally
unacceptable slang. (My hair could curl when I
hear the quality of Zulu on T.V. and how it differs from the purity of the first
language in which, as a farm boy,
I WaS fluent even before my parental language
of English.) I am a true South African since 1B20 and not taking sides and I
have the
greatest respect for both President Mandela and his second deputy Mr.
de Klerk as I listen to. how they spear, a language which is
not their
mother tongue. Both make mistakes and my admiration comes in
personal knowledge that they both will welcome guidance as to.
improving the quality of their international language.
5.
LITTERING.
South Africa is amongst the worst countries in the world for
litter. In some countries in Europe and the Far East the penalties for
so much
as cigarette ash are horrendous. I would like to, see similar fines being a
source of income for our RDP, written in to
our new constitution. Let the
litter pigs finance the free houses they want. One thing is for sure the party
who uses anti-litter
as part of its manifesto will get my next
vote.
6. SATANISM. I believe the new constitution should be very strong
against all forms of satanism. Back at the ranch the Bible says one is,
"either for God or against Him." There is no Compromise. God is the ruler of
goodness
and purity and satan is the ruler of filth and evil. This is another
point on which there is simply no compromise. Satanism comes
in many guises
.just as communism is linked to unionism. The New Age movement and its set of
standards is one of the devil’s
most successful disguises. All religious
cults and sects which do not honour the uncompromising word of God, but are
based on it,
and those which have fancy man-made interpretations and adaptations
cease to be glorifying to God. The idol worshippers, the voodoo,
the ancestor
worshippers, the spirit wccrshippers, astrologers, aromatherapists,
reflexologists, herbalists, homeopaths, tarot card
exponents and fortune tellers
- the list is almost endless. All of these fancy things claiming supernatural
powers of special forces
and false gods and spirits should be banned. Put God
first even if it upsets a million ancestor worshippers.
6.1 An area which
is often viewed differently is homosexuality and transsexuals amongst either
male or female are both listed as abominations
against the will of God. BOTH
are curable. All such creatures are usually associated with clothing or
ornaments which are as far
removed from Christian standards as one could
imagine. Use of the "peace" sign which satanists claim is an inverted crucifix
in
a circle, the ankh (sex symbol) and usually filthy language and low moral
standards are all frequently in one package linked with
abuse of drugs, tobacco
or alcohol. believe some of the RDP funds should go tcewards redeveloping some
of sick society. Homosexuality
should be listed as a notifiable/certifiable.
disease and known sufferers institutionalized and cured and certainly removed
from
scfciety. These satan-contaminated people do not deserve special
rights.
6.2 1 do not know where this one really belongs but diligent
efforts to find a true and uniform meaning raise a great deal of
suspicion in my mind. I am of the older generation where a young female was a
virgin and addressed as Miss. She
married and assumed the title of Mrs. Then we
got the category who were no longer virgins and not tied tc, any one male
partner but
wished to, advertise that they were sexually experienced and they
adopted the title of Ms as a very subtle form of advertising their
availability.
Perhaps I have misunderstood something but I am disgusted to have such a vast
number of females in politics claiming
this title. I believe the new
constitution should stop this form of sexual availability advertising.
7.
MOVIES AND RELATED "ENTERTAINMENT" MATERIAL.
I believe the new
constitution should take a stand against all forms of movies which promote
violence, say,, crime and other unsavoury
standards. These are polluting the
minds of Our children and creating more jobs for the police force of the future
as the young
people see as acceptable standards those which their adults permit
to be screened. The cinemas are the. Pits. A vast amount of
the sexually
provocative gyrating, half-dressed so called musicians wearing sat;anistic
emblems and playing New Age music should
similarly be banned - unless that is
the standard you want to promote for your children.
8. BAD
SPORTSMANSHIP.
Being such a sport orientated country our youth have many
heroes amongst sports personalities. Some set exceptic@nally high Christian
and
moral examples to society and are a credit to their sports and the country.
Some are absolute hooligans in their attitude to
discipline and personal conduct
both on and off the field. My mind goes to an international negotiation I was
having with an investor
in Europe at the time of the cannibalism and ear biting
in New Zealand and then the night club escapades of another rugby player
in the
East Cape shortly thereafter. got it straight from my investor. He was moving
his investment out of England because of their
standards and was about to put it
5 into the fresh new South Africa until he heard of our savages and lack of
moral discipline.
Two people cost South Africa a potential of just on
US$I~billion fresh money coming to the country. I believe that we owe it to
our
youngsters that they follow clean people who conduct themselves at national
level in a manner highly acceptable to God. Over
and above club discipline you
should have the right to punish national and provincial players for projecting a
bad image against
South Africa.
9. REVERSE APARTHEID - AFFIRMATIVE
ACTION.
Let me be near the top of the queue in acknowledging ills and
errors of our past national history and my own past personal transgressions.
I
praise God that I am now a born again Christian. I was horrified to. hear that
the next Olympic team will not be chosen on merit
but will be "an eqi~tally
representative team" from all sectors of our country. We were
thrown out
of the Olympic movement because of policy which was perceived not to give equal
participation to all members of the community
as this was against the Olympic
code of equal recognition for all, irrespective of colour, race or creed. Now
we are faced with
"leadership" who is playing the reverse game. No longer will
our team be the best and most competent but will be window dressed
to try and
con the investors of the world that we are so good to the people, but we cannot
give honest recognition to those who show
the highest levels of
competence.
10. TRADE UNIONISM
I wonder how many businesses will
collapse as a result of enforced affirmative action and trade unionism. I
believe the new constitution
should make a couple of things abundantly
clear in this direction. I am against discrimination as that can lead to
business suicide. I believe the new constitution should entrench the
rights of the employer and job provider to use his own best judgment as to
accessing the ability and suitability of any applicant. He should have the
democratic right to employ who
he wishes and on terms which the two individuals
agree on. The Bible sets a beautiful example of the man who employed staff for
different periods of the same day to do similar functions and paid them all the
same AGREED wage.
I believe there should be an overriding authority
granted to an employer to, set the terms and conditions on which he
employs staff. If they are dissatisfied and cannot reach compromise with
the employer by decent civilized negotiations they are free to resign and
join the unemployed elsewhere or show another competitive employer that they
really are worth a better deal. I am fully in favour of free market
competition. I do not know of one firm who. is financially stronger or has
greater staff loyalty as a result
of affirmative action and demands by strikers
and go slow activities Rnd the rest of the trade unionism type of demands. If
the
employer does-s not know how to employ fairly then he will soon find no
staff and be out of business. Let him cut his own throat.
Nobody is forced to
work for him. This will make way for the "highly skilled" staff who dictate to
old established management as
to how the business should be run, to open up on
their own and put their money where their mouths are.
The new
constitution should give the employer power to. overrule the trade unions and
make as much money as he likes because at the end of the day he will be paying a
higher rate of tax which will
be most beneficial to the RDP and the new South
Africa. for one will never again employ another person in this country for more
than
two days in a week and every person will be on a specific piece job basis
where I can control that I get what I am prepared to pay
for and I will leave
the country if any form of communism tries to dictate how I must run my
business.
11. PENAL SYSTEM.
I am against financially supporting
criminals languishing in our prisons by the thousand. I believe that all should
be subjected
to full-time correctional training or creative enterprise. can only
see good through forcing the individual to be economically active while
in prison and be entitled to retain a portion of the profitability in excess of
what it is costing the
state to feed and accommodate him and administer his
case.. On the one side he leaves with a straightened out set of values and here
the Church should be given full access to assist where possible. Alternatively
he leaves with a skill which he can use to became
economically active and not
dependent on criminal ways for a living or be unemployable by virtue of his
immediate past history.
We could even set up work opportunities through the
development banks and the like to use these new skills until the individual
chooses
to move on and cut into. the main stream of society. Finally, he could
be able to leave prison with honest earnings with which to,
see himself right
financially until he is once more employed. The big thing is that at the end of
the day pr: . Prisoners are both
being isolated from society in punishment for
their crimes but they are not being a further drain on the society who is having
to,
carry the coast of feeding them while they are imprisoned.
I trust
you will see the intended merit in points and standards I believe will be in the
best interests of our country,
F.E. PORRILL
