Citizen Contribution: B Lester [1995] ZAConAsmRes 371 (30 January 1995)

30 January 1995

I write as a concerned Senior Citizen of this beautiful country with all its wonderful people and I'm proud to be part of them.

My concerns regarding the new Constitution being debated in the Assembly are as follows :

1 . Freedom of Speech

Surely it cannot mean that you can write, say, print or display whatever the media wants.

We need some responsible censorship and a very special care the minds of our people.

2. Abortion

I believe that life begins at conception and the thought of legalising abortion is quite terrifying.

3. Sex Orientation

I am opposed to gay rights in the (end page 1) constitution - surely this cannot be accepted and I trust that this decision will be very carefully weighed,

We have such potential for good and wholesome lives and activities I ask most humbly that you will add my requests to I'm sure, the many other concerned citizens of the country.
