Citizen Contribution: T Kerr [1995] ZAConAsmRes 338 (29 January 1995)

29 Jan1995 Dear Sir

As a concerned citizen of Cape Town and a Christian, I would like to make a stand on some various issues which affect the new constitution.

Freedom of Speech: I support freedom of speech, but do not understand this freedom to mean that the media may write or display whatever it wants to. I do not support the total abandonment of censorship and the importing of pornographic materials.
Sexual Orientation: I am concerned about the trend to towards treating homosexual relationships and heterosexual relationships on exactly the same basis and the enshrining of so-called 'gay rights' in the constitution. I am opposed to homosexual marriages.
Abortion: Being convinced that life begins at conception and that each child has the right to life, I am totally opposed to the legalising of abortion-demand, and the 'right to choose' being made part of the constitution.

Yours Faithfully

TESSA KERR
