Theme Committee 1: Democracy [1995] ZAConAsmRes 21 (5 January 1995)
5 Jan 95 Dear Sir The newly emancipated people of the Republic of South Africa have little if
any, contact with Parliament. Proportional Representation, as presently applied, does not cater for
a member of the public to write to an MP, who has a specific constituency
responsibility. I suggest the following.- A free postcard be made available at all post offices with, on the address
side:- HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY DEPARTMENT......... CAPE TOWN on the other side:- a. Lines on which to write b. The words HOME ADDRESS\POSTAL ADDRESS in the top right hand
corner. c Date line d. Left of the first line “Write\print your question here". e. Bottom right ' signature' I hope this will go some way in bringing in the public's participation in the
running of the country. Yours sincerely |
