ACCOUNTABLE GOVERNMENT

  1. Government Accountability and responsibility in all spheres of government activity;

All must be transparent and efficiency maintained strictly.

  1. Transparency and openness in the workings of government and the public

administration. - Strictly maintained.

  1. Access to elected public representatives and to state officials. Yes

  1. Access to government information. Yes

5/6. The Economy

All operating within the framework of the Free Market Economy. Trade Unionism must be brought in check.

  1. Representative Government
  1. Nature and type of electoral system.

Combination of proportional and constituency-based

  1. Franchise - 18 yrs old plus with at least Std 8.
  1. Frequency of elections - Every 5 years
  1. Referenda and their role - only for matters of great importance.

  1. Citizenship granted after 5 years residence. Dual citizenship allowed.

  1. Suffrage
  1. The constitutional right to vote - Yes
  2. Qualifications for voting - 18 yrs old with at least Std 8.
  1. Voting rights for non-citizens - Not allowed.

8-11 Foreign Relations and International Law

  1. Politician and economic relationships with other countries
  2. Membership of international organisations
  1. Status and application of international law
  1. Conclusion and incorporation of international treaties

Only if within the best interests of South Africa.
