OFFICIAL LANGUAGE

Your advertisement re: official country's languages refers.

I agree that the use of eleven official languages is impractical. The learning of eleven languages by the population is impossible. Consequently the official languages should be restricted to a minimum.

This minimum can be determined by the languages that is used most commonly by the nation. It must also be understood by the majority. This come down to Afrikaans (even though it is not accepted by most politicians), English, Xhosa and Zulu.

It is argued that the languages is possibly not used by people that is distant and is not understood. These people do not often receive official or other correspondence. They are probably not in a state to read either. They are reached by other sorts of communication namely the radio, such communication medium is normally non-official.

Consequently I want to plead for the official languages to be limited to the following:

  1. Preferably:-

Afrikaans and English ~ because it will reach a large part of the nation; or

  1. Otherwise:-

Afrikaans, English, Xhosa and Zulu - in this way you can communicate with most of the nation.
