Official Language [1995] ZAConAsmRes 1275 (16 May 1995)

16th May 1995

WHAT SHOULD OUR COUNTRY’S OFFICIAL LANGUAGE/S BE?

In answer to your advertisement in the Cape Times of to-day’s date, I submit:-

{ Afrikaans
{ English
Five languages { Tswana
{ Xhosa
{ Zulu

If it is decided to have one language only, which would be the cheapest for the country, then it must surely be English, the world-wide language of commerce, and widely understood here.

English should not be omitted from the final choice.
