Citizen Contribution: M De Lange [1995] ZAConAsmRes 1273 (16 May 1995)

16 . 5 . 1995

As citizen of South Africa and Christian of years' standing I would like to remain loyal towards my country and do something to ensure its prosperity therefore I cannot look on while South Africa becomes a secular state. I object most strongly to this.

.The Honourable State President also said at his inauguration: "So help me God". On this ground we also expect that the name of God be retained in the Constitution. In humble gratitude towards the Almighty God we, the people of SA, declare:

  1. that freedom of religion be guaranteed in all private and public places; that Satanism and occultism not have a right to exist as a religion; that the "Interfaith Movement" be opposed most strongly;

  1. that Biblical values, ethics and doctrine be maintained and promoted; that the "sexual orientation clause" be removed from the constitution;

  1. that church leaders may serve on government councils and committees;

  1. that the "Christian voice" may be heard in the theme committee (3) which handles the abovementioned matters.

May God have mercy on you to make the right decisions and you can never underestimate His loyalty.

M. de Lange
