Please take into consideration the following points when drawing up the new constitution for South Africa.

  1. All members in parliament (this includes all houses/assemblies) must be elected by the people in a fair election. Under no circumstances should people be nominated eg. the undemocratic nomination of parliamentarians ± 30 of them in Zimbabwe by their President. This is important, referring to our traditional leaders. If traditional leaders wish to be involved in the running of our country on national or local levels they must be elected by the, or their supporters. any behind the scenes deals that traditional leaders get nominated into councils or whatever and we the taxpayers have to pay their salaries is a farce of democracy if the people who believe or look to their traditional leaders as leaders of themselves, they must then show their support - and the way to do this - they must elect their leaders like the rest of South Africans do in fair elections.

I do not see why my tax money must be paid to traditional leaders - they do not represent me or my views/beliefs their interest are only with their people and areas - this does not fit into the one South Africa.

Traditional leaders who want representation must be elected by the people democratically and serve their supporters like all other elected people fair and square. Any tax payers money spent on traditional leader not elected is unconstitutional - undemocratic and will lead to court battles which will be costly - and of course a waste of taxpayers hard earned money.

2. We as the people must have the ability to elect people who we believe will serve us and the countries best interest in parliament under the present system we can only elect party elected members - this is not democratic. We the people do not have the power to elect people in our parties. We must be able to choice the person and if need be the party. If election time comes I want to vote for my party but I want to see who I'm electing and who I can then go to with any problems ie. members of parties must be allowed wards. If I do not like the person who is of my party in my constituency but I like another person from another party I would like to vote for him - and then my party on the national level. We as the people must have the choice of the person - no choice of the person we can go to with problems is a JOKE! We cannot trust our political parties that they will put the best people into positions - remember politics is about scratch my back and I'll scratch yours - a game of favours and lies - all politicians are of the same breed. We the people are sick of party political old boy's club nominations. We demand the individual choice - the party comes second ‑because we know if the puppets they put in don’t tow the line their backs
don’t get scratched. I we put the person into power and he does not perform - he's out in the next election. Give us our democratic right to choice who goes into parliament and not who the party decided to put into parliament.

3. We have a bunch of bandits and unconvicted and convicted criminals in parliament - what a banana republic this is. Any person found guilty or serious offences should not be allowed to serve in parliament - strict laws should apply - a country run by dishonest people will lead to a country of lies, deception and corruption. Wake up - we the joke of the planet.

I hope my views will be heard with an open mind - I trust your judgement.

Kind regards - fair minded South African.
