THE CONSTITUTION OF SOUTH AFRICA

Let me comment about this Volkstaat that the Boers want in this country. It is heartening to hear that there are some people who still want to apply apartheid in this country at this time, after it has been made sure that apartheid is dead and buried. No one can deny that apartheid will be applied to its core to our people in that place. I, for one, do not go along with that idea of the Boers. I do not want to be restricted in going anywhere where I want to, whether. it is in the Cape, the O.F.S or any other place. It is clear that when one wants to visit this place, one would be required to carry a passport. I am even presently disturbed by the existence of Lesotho in the middle of our country, being ruled by another government, and that I have to carry a passport if I want to go there.

How can you allow a thing a thing like Volkstaat if you say that you are building a democratic country? What I would like you to know is that we elected you because we had trust in you. You must therefore think that the members of the public elected you because they were tired of being oppressed. You must tell those Boers that they will not get what they want in this country of our forefathers. If they want that rubbish, they must go back to where their forefathers came from. We are tired of being oppressed by these foreigners.

I also to say something about this. In this constitution that is drawn now, you have to think about the traditional healers who have been oppressed for a long time. In all the public hearings that you have conducted, nothing is said about the traditional healers (herbalists, inyangas, etc.), although these people are also members of the public. They also contribute a lot in healing the sick people of this country. This country will not be a democratic country if the traditional healers are left out in the drafting of the constitution. We, traditional healers are not violent people, and I do not want us to be under the present Department Health. I say this because the Departments of Health of the provinces do not like us, the traditional healers. It will be better if a Department of Traditional Healers can be created and be controlled by the traditional healers. I do not want the traditional healers to be supported or subsidised by the government, but must be given their own department, so that we can have the same rights. If you want to know how this can work, contact us so that we can give you an idea how this can work, because we do have our agenda.

You must remember that if you can allow this thing of a Volkstaat to happen, there will be bloodbath in this country, something you will never be able to stop.
