The Special Tribunal is a court with similar status to the High Court established in terms of Special Investigating Unit (SIU) and Special Tribunal Act 74 of 1996, to adjudicate upon civil matters emanating from investigations by SIU and to provide for matters incidental thereto. Its statutory mandate is to recover public funds syphoned from the fiscus through corruption, fraud and illicit money flows.
