The symbol is in the form of a highly stylized circle symbolizing the earth, and consisting of a lower section symbolizing the land, a middle section symbolizing the sea, and an upper section symbolizing, on the right side, a smaller wave and, on the left side, a larger wave, the latter reaching towards a symbolized satellite that delimits the upper right portion of the symbol. The logogram is a specific graphic form given to the official abbreviation "INMARSAT", located adjacent to the symbolized satellite in the upper right corner of the symbol, and using a Standard Helvetica Medium Typeface.

It is equally important that the integrity of the symbol and the logogram be maintained. They should not be deformed or distorted in any way, nor should any graphic element be used with them in such a way that it would appear to be part of the element. Plenty of space should be provided around the symbol and the logogram in order to ensure prominence.

The colour of the emblem is navy blue on a white background.

This is the symbol that commemorates the 10th of October of 1868; it was hoisted by Carlos Manuel de Cespedes, the Father of the Homeland, to begin the Ten-Year War for the independence of Cuba. Law 42, of December 27, 1983, passed by the National Assembly of People's Power, defines and recognizes it as a patriotic symbol.
Description of the design: It is in the shape of a flag, divided along its lenght

into two equal parts. The upper one. is in turn divided into two rectangles, one --the one closest to the pole-- is red and its length is determined by the golden section; the other is white. In the center of the red rectangle is a white fivepointed star drawn wi thin an imaginary circumference whose diameter is equal to one-third of the latitude of the banner. In terms of section 13 of the Merchandise Marks Act, 1941 (Act 17 of 1941), I hereby give notice that the World Intellectual Property Organization has by virtue of Article 6 ter of the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property, 1883, as amended, conveyed a request on behalf of the country mentioned below for the prohibition in terms of section 15(1) of the said Act on the use of the State flags, State emblems, coats of arms and other marks set out and depicted in respect of that country in the Schedule hereto as indicated below opposite to such country's name, in connection with any trade, business, profession or occupation or in connection with a trade mark, mark or trade description applied to goods, except the use thereof by that country or its mandatories:

MERCHANDISE MARKS ACT, 1941: PROPOSED PROHIBITION OF THE USE OF CERTAIN STATE FLAGS, EMBLEMS, COATS OF ARMS AND MARKS: HELLENIC REPUBLIC, ESTONIA, NORWAY, LITHUANIA, FINLAND, UZBEKISTAN, CZECHOSLOVAKIA, CROATIA, SLOVAKIA AND SLOVENIA
